Viewing the Images

The CD-ROM is setup to view the image via web browser. In addition under MacOS you can also use iView Media Pro or iPhoto programs.

The CD-ROM also contains: QT Float screen saver for both Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP and MacOS 9 the can be used to display the images. MacOS X is support via PhotoCircus screen saver downloadable for the website. For tips on setup the monitor and display the image as Wall Paper / DeskTop image see the Tips page.

Using a Web browser

Using Netscape (provided on the CD-ROM: Window and MacOS) to browse the images:
  1. Open the CD-ROM.
  2. Double click on the file 'index.html'
  3. Scroll down to the images.
    Click on the next range of image to see a set of thumbnails.

Using Internet Explorer (not included on the CD-ROM) to browse the images:
  1. Open Internet Explore
  2. Select open from the file menu.
  3. Open the CD-ROM.
  4. Select the file 'index.html'
  5. Scroll down to the images.
    Click on the next range of image to see a set of thumbnails.

Using iView Multimedia catalogue (Provided on the CD-ROM, MacOS only, not licensed - shareware) to browse the images:

  1. Open the CD-ROM.
  2. Double click on the file 'IofW Vol#1.catalog'

Using FileMaker Pro v3.0 or later (not included on the CD-ROM, see: http://www.filemaker.com/) to browse the images:
  1. Open the CD-ROM.
  2. Open the folder 'FM Sample Picture Database'
  3. Double click on the file 'Pictures.fm'

Translating the images

Locate the image you would like to translate and then open the image in PictureViewer (see below, installed on your computer by QuickTime) to translate the image.

Use a commercial program such as Adobe PhotoShop (MacOS and Windows), Graphics Converter (Shareware, MacOS) to convert the images.

PictureViewer Pro:

To save an image file in another format:
  1. Open the File menu and choose Export.
  2. Open the pop-up menu underneath the name box and choose a format. You can export in the following formats: Windows bitmap (BMP), JPEG, Photoshop, PICT, and QuickTime Image. When you choose a file format, PictureViewer adds an identifying suffix to the filename (.bmp, .jpg, .psd, .pct, or .qif).
  3. Choose a location for the new image file and click Save. PictureViewer saves the file. The active window does not change.

To save an image file in another format select export from the file menu.
